Terms of Service.

1. Acceptance of terms

By downloading, installing, or using Rabbit IDE ("the Software"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Software. These Terms apply to all users of the Software, whether you access it locally or through optional cloud features.

2. Description of service

Rabbit IDE is an AI-powered code editor built on VS Code OSS. It operates local-first: all editing, indexing, and local model inference happen entirely on your device. Optional cloud features include:

  • Cloud model routing via the Rabbit proxy
  • Account-based billing and usage dashboards
  • Auto-update checks

Cloud features require an account and are governed by these Terms. Local usage without an account is governed by the MIT License.

3. User responsibilities

  • API keys: You are responsible for obtaining, securing, and paying for your own LLM provider API keys. Rabbit does not supply model access beyond the optional cloud proxy.
  • Code ownership: You retain full ownership of all code you write, generate, modify, or ship using the Software.
  • Compliance: You must comply with all applicable local, state, national, and international laws when using the Software.
  • Responsible use: You must not use the Software to deliberately cause harm, violate the rights of others, or generate content that violates third-party terms of service.
  • Credentials security: You are responsible for securing your account credentials and must notify us immediately of any unauthorized access.

4. Intellectual property

Your code: You own 100% of the code you produce with Rabbit IDE. We claim no rights, licenses, or ownership over your source code, generated output, or project artifacts.

Rabbit IDE: The Rabbit IDE software, branding, documentation, and proprietary components are owned by the Rabbit IDE team. Open-source components are licensed under the MIT License.

5. AI-generated content disclaimer

AI suggestions, completions, and agent-generated code are provided as tools to assist your workflow. They are not guaranteed to be correct, secure, complete, or fit for any particular purpose. You are solely responsible for reviewing, testing, and validating all AI-generated output before using it in production.

6. Limitation of liability

The Software is provided "AS IS" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the authors, contributors, and Rabbit IDE team shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from:

  • Use or inability to use the Software
  • AI-generated code that contains bugs, vulnerabilities, or errors
  • Loss of data, profits, or business interruption
  • Third-party service outages or API provider issues

7. Cloud services

When you connect the Software directly to third-party cloud LLM providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, etc.) with your own API keys, your requests go straight to those providers and are subject to their terms of service and privacy policies. If you use the optional Rabbit Cloud proxy, requests pass through our servers; we record usage metadata (model, token counts, cost) for billing but do not persist prompt or code content.

8. Termination

You may stop using the Software at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate your account access if you violate these Terms. Upon termination:

  • Your local data remains on your machine — we cannot remove it
  • Access to cloud features and the Rabbit proxy will be revoked
  • Any remaining balance is non-refundable unless required by law

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Material changes will be announced via the changelog. Continued use of the Software after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

10. Governing law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Delaware.

11. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
